Odessa calla lily wedding arrangements for a couple of Hearts of Midlothian fans. Wedding at the Braid Hills Hotel, Edinburgh

The bride and groom are big Hearts fans so opted for maroon calla lilies as their focal flower. The burgundy calla lily available via the Dutch flower auction was a variety called Odessa. I used it with white Akito rose, blue thistle, purple eustoma and hard ruscus. The shower bouquet and two bridesmaids' bouquets were constructed in foam, using Oasis foam bouquet holders. Calla lilies are difficult to arrange in a mixed hand-tie design due to their shape and size, so you get much better results using a foam base. The callas were support wired for added security.

The bride was really pleased with the flowers and went on to say that she could not fault a thing about their special day. Her glowing review of the food has made me want to visit the Braid Hills Hotel for a meal!

Wedding at The Rivers Suite, Craiglockhart (part of Napier University)

I married at Craighouse back in 2009. It was a lovely wedding venue that used to be part of Napier University. Craighouse is currently being developed into flats and now Napier University promote the Rivers Suite on their Craiglockhart campus for weddings. It was the first time I'd worked at this wedding venue. I was impressed by the space, especially the room where people dined and partied. It was light, airy and had a pretty turquoise chapel at the back of the room. The sound system also appeared to be top class - the waiting staff were blasting out music whilst the room was being set-up!

The bride chose a really pretty combination of flowers - pale pinks, ivories and fluffy gypsophila. She had 5 bridesmaids and planned on using some of their bouquets on the top table as table decorations (hence the empty fish bowls).

I used sweet avalanche, vendela, akito and (spray) snowflake roses, with gypsophila in the bouquets.
I used the above roses along with willeke albert lilies, eryngium and eucalyptus in the top table / ceremony arrangement.
The simple but really effective candelabra designs combined variegated ivy with avalanche roses.

Houston House Hotel wedding

It's great getting lovely feedback following weddings, this mother-of-the-bride e-mailed:
"The wedding went really well yesterday and your artistry with the flowers was greatly admired, both in the bouquets and at the hotel.  The master of ceremonies at Houston House did mention to me that he had never seen the venue looking so good.  My corsage and Caroline's bouquet with the brooch wired into it was a real tear jerker.

Thank you for all your help with the flowers and for playing a big part in Caroline and Gordons special day".

Caledonian Hall - Royal Botanic Gardens

"Thank you for doing such a fab job on my flowers. The whole room looked beautiful and my bouquet was especially perfect. Thank you!"

Charlotte chose pale blue Hydrangea for her wedding at the Caledonian Hall, R0yal Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh. The setting for the wedding was extremely romantic and the Autumn colours made a superb backdrop for her outdoor ceremony. The hydrangea looked classicly beautiful and I'm looking forward to seeing photos of the pedestals in location.

Pale blue hydrangea, simply tied together with a white ribbon. Classic and stylish.

The fresh flower cake topper added a wow factor.

Elegant table centres - blue hydrangea and beargrass in a fish bowl.

A smaller design utilising the same flowers decorated the marquee.
